Throwing objects to stage: a tradition

"The Mirror ran a story- which no other paper followed-of the band's (Beasty Boys) verbally abusing disabled children at the Montreaux festival in Switzerland. The Mirror then backed a campaign by Conservative MP Peter Brunivels to prevent the band's entering Britain for a planned tour and editorialized thet "the CBS record company ought to have nothing more to do with them... the least i can do now to save its reputation is to cancel their tour at once and stop putting out the group's records" (15 May 1987)

Although this campaign was unsuccessful, The Mirror's reporting contributed to a growth in public hostility toward the band.

This reached a peak when the tour climaxed in violences at Liverpool, where some of the crowd threw objects at the band and sang "We're the Scouse army and we've beaten the Beasty boys". (NME, 6, June 1987)

Open Mic in Hanna's

So, there we was. Petrified to death. All this British people in the packed Hanna's bar waiting for our turn to play onstage. Any of our course were there. Just a friend of mine. Everyone was singing covers and I was going to sing my own songs in Spanish, that no more than 20 people knows. And the music suicidal: a John Lennon's cover.But I did. Mariana the lead guitar. I'm with the other and the voice. They didn't throw us a bottle, we weren't booed. Just polite claps and some cheers up from a couple of guys screaming "I want you!" or "they´re brilliant". I want to believe that last one phrase. Even if it isn't true.

No open mic for me

Boring!

Ensayé toda la semana. Hace hartos días que me habían dicho que los jueves habían open mic en el Mellow Mellow (en verdad se llama Mello, mellow. Le agregué la w por la pronunciación. Si seré huasa). Nadie de mis amigos podría ir de seguro. Llegué al lugar y me preguntaron "open mic? no nosotros no hacemos open mic. Queremos a futuro, pero hoy ofrecemos esta noche de improvisación". Me mandaron al Saba no sé cuanto. "Ah no, es los miércoles". Ok. También me recomendaron el 3345 "tenemos accoustic nights pero tienes que reservar con anticipación". El guapísimo bartender del Chameleon -que dejó de hacer open mic por quejas de los vecinos-me dijo que el Hanna's hace unos open mics increíbles. Luego pasé por el Cafe Tabac, y salen con que es los domingos. Y era tanto el mal chiste que le dije al loco "¡todos mienten!". Se quedó como plop. Pero le expliqué la historia.

Justo hoy que había decidido tocar sola, (no tenía otra opción). Me refiero a que decidí que podía atreverme a pararme sola en un escenario sin el apoyo de mis amigas. Voy a tener que seguir esperando.
